Zanzibar’s Kendwa Rocks is one of our recommended hotels for your holiday. It offers something for every need and budget. The relaxed Zanzibari atmosphere will mellow you down in no time. The hotel is about 1hr drive from Stone Town towards the northern tip of the island. The road descends through Kendwa village towards one of the most fantastic beaches of East Africa. Just opposite you can see the lighthouse of nearby Tumbatu Island.
Sunbathing may be enough, but you can also snorkel, dive or fish and do small boat trips on the turquoise waters. Beautifu sunsets are everyday trill and moonlighted nights on the white coral and seashell beach make an unforgettable experience.
The Full Moon Party
Fullmoon Party is organized around the full moon every month. Delicious barbeque buffet, acrobatic performances, dance music from around the world… be prepared to stay up late 
Full Moon parties since 1996. Full Moon parties started off with traditional NGOMA groups on the white sandy ground of Kendwa, where guests used to join with performers in African Style. As bar life started developing (our tiny bar was the first to open in 1998), DJs became popular.
The idea for Full Moon party came from Finland: At the time of the Full Moon of August friends gathered in a remote wild fores to enjoy nature and good company, and of course, the magic of the Full Moon.

The Restaurant
Our restaurant specializes in swahili and indian ocean kitchens, but our chefs master a wide range of dishes from all over the world. Seafood is naturally the focus, but beef and chicken are available and vegetarians haven’t been forgotten either.
The Mermaid Bar
The mermaid bar is a perfect spot for admiring the glowing sunsets. It servers african beers and wines, a variety of exotic cocktails and fruit juices. Pool table is there and board games as well as african bao game.
Kendwa Rocks, Zanzibar: Accommodation Status
The choice of accommodation is ample. You can choose a spacious Suite or Family Room, Coral Stone or Palmwood Bungalows, or just a simple Palmwood Banda. The rooms are surrounded by coconut trees and lush tropical gardens. The Bungalows are designed to suit different needs, with ensuite bathroom and veranda overlooking the sea.
North & South Wings
The rooms stand on the higher coral rock formation and their spacious verandas command views over the beach towards the Island of Tumbatu.The SUITES are our largest rooms, luxury for two (for instance. honeymooners) good for a family. UPSTAIRS rooms are also good for honeymooners and the big verandas command wonderful views over the whole site. All have stone baths inside the room.
Coral Stone Bungalows
These are surrounded by the lush, exotic gardens. The Zanzibari antique furniture and decorated mosquito nets create a luxurious atmosphere. The bungalows are named after the southern African countries. All rooms stand alone with a private veranda, air-conditioning and have hot water
Palmwood Bungalows
These are cosy and situated right on the sand. They are self-contained, with veranda and big window opening towards the beach. Most have hammocks outside. They are named after the islands of the eastern African coast. Those mentioned together (below) share veranda. All rooms have air-conditioning.
Palmwood Bandas
The bandas are built with palmwood and palmleaves and are equipped with mosquito nets and fans. Shared bathroom facilities. We do NOT take bookings for bandas in high season.
