Majorca, the biggest island of the Balearic archipelago in the Mediterranean sea, has become an increasingly popular tourist destination in the past forty years. The English and Germans are mainly responsible for creating the island’s growth as a tourist spot. If you fly into Majorca, you will more than likely travel into its capital city Palma, where the Son Saint Joan Airport is located. The actual airport is about 8 kilometers outside of Palma, but it is close enough. Another nice boon, is that when you fly from England, the flight is less than 3 hours. You will hear Spanish and Castilian spoken on the island frequently, but have no worries, because many people speak English there now.
The North and Western sections of the island are mountainous and rural. You will find peaceful, undisturbed villages. The Eastern section of the island is filled with gorgeous beaches and stunning caves. The Southern region is accustomed to tourists. You can find resorts and hotels catering to tourists and packages. The Northeast region is full of historical landmarks and sightseeing. When you travel to Majorca, be sure to allot enough time to see everything Majorca has for you. If you can only stay a week, then hire a car so you can get a good look at the beaches, villages, and mountains in beautiful Majorca.

You can sunbathe along the pristine beaches, go shopping in the afternoon and visit the local nightclubs in the evening after an exceptional dinner. There are plenty of activities as well such as hiking, biking, golf, and many other outdoor activities which will keep you busy and let you enjoy the outdoors. If looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway, the northern portion of the island will probably suit your needs best. Here you will find quiet resorts situated in the mountainous terrain. Whereas, the southern portion of the island caters more to active and social visitors that are looking for a good time at the clubs and on the beach.
